I had a small holiday in February 2006, these are some of the pics and comments.
I first went to Raglan to have a look and take some
pics. Man is it a tourist town and the camp ground was full up.
I only stayed in Raglan for a couple of hours, not really my scene!
I then travelled via Te Mata to Kawhia, the road was half just an
unsealed metal road, still I was in no hurry!
I stayed in Kawhia at a camp ground for 3 days, it cost $8 per night. It seemed to be mostly semi-permanent caravans, with people coming down for awhile with their 4x4 motor bikes and flash boat to go fishing with.
I had a look around on my bike, but seemed to sleep a lot, must be the Chemo and working night shift.
These sorts of places are real expensive, Petrol was 8c a litre more expensive than Hamilton. Bread is $3 only $1 in Hamilton and the little general store had very little in it anyway. Still the idea is take your own food etc. The flounder and chips was quite good and only $9 takeaway.
I next stayed a night on the beach at Aotea Harbour, just out of Kawhia. Then I stayed the night at Pirongia. Pirongia cost $10 at the Stop Over and I was the only one there.
