Kitchen Island Plans
A Kitchen Island is a handy place in the kitchen especially if you have a fairly large kitchen.
Lets your kids have their meal or sit their go about their work or just have a plain conversation with someone. You could use your Kitchen Island to hold your cookbooks, hold a sink and a cooktop and an extension to of the countertop to accomadate knee space of anyone sitting besides it.
Here are some plans for setting up your Kitchen Island. The island cooktop or sink should be close to the other workstations in your kitchen work triangle. Model the Kitchen Island plan to ensure that it models the dimensions of your kitchen, which means that if your kitchen is narrow and long your Kitchen Island should be the same too. If you need mobility for your kitchen island consider adding casters to your Kitchen island. Most Kitchen islands are about 34" tall,if you are going to use casters, consider their size when planning the height, but again you can modify this to make it the ideal work height for you. If you choose an enclosed cabinet base, you have the standard drawer and cupboard storage options. For an open design, large shelves are ideal for holding pots, pans and large bowls.

Also ensure that the countertops have rounded corners to avoid accidents due to sharp corners. When planning for your Kitchen Island ensure that you consider mobility, replacement and installation. Use screws in place of nails as it is easy to dismantle and can be tightened as needed. Also consider using a hard finish such as polyurethane for your Kitchen island for a better attractive finish. Storage space is also essential and helps you maximize the Kitchen Island space, hold all sorts of things, anything handy. Consider using a round countertop of your Kitchen Island as it looks attractive is without sharp corners.
The cooktop could also consider using a vent a downdraft vent or a hood hanging from the ceiling (this is recommended) . If you don't plan to add a cooking range to your Kitchen island you could instead have an area for food preparation. Consider having a garbage dispose. Have electrical points located on the side of the Kitchen island ,below your cooktop or food preparation area where the appliances will be used. Another good Kitchen Plan idea is to also consider a mini area for holding a mini TV.
