Concrete House Plans

Concrete house plans are fast becoming popular today because of their versatility. When one thinks of concrete, concrete slabs come into mind and is thought of as material used to make driveways and not something that would make up your house plan.

However one could never be more wrong! Concrete is an extremely versatile and durable material and can withstand forces or last longer than most materials. But again people associate concrete with sidewalks, foundations and wouldn’t expect style out of concrete homes. Wrong again! Concrete is customizable in many forms and the final product would look as good as any conventional homes if not better. Besides style, it is also very practicable and is considered the hottest new material when constructing kitchens and bathrooms.

Many house owners and construction companies are discovering the benefit of concrete and incorporating it because it’s low maintenance. Concrete house plans can have a class of its own, under the guidance of the right hands; concrete houses can look better and even feel better than other conventional houses. Concrete can be incorporated in sinks, backsplashes, uses as concrete tiles, tub surrounds in the bathroom. Sleek and solid, concrete can be used anywhere in a house. In a kitchen for instance, concrete can be used to make counter tops. All that has to be done is a galvanized wire mesh is sanded smooth and used as a skeleton for the counter top and then sealed with a penetrating concrete sealer. This countertop looks and functions as good as any other counter top material.

Concrete counter tops can also take any dimension and color as specified by the house owner. Concrete countertops can be installed with fewer hassles which are against common perception. This is truer especially when the builder has experience in dealing with marble or granite installation and can be done in the same time frame.
However, concrete house plans are expensive as compared to conventional materials used but much lesser than granite or marble surfacing. Concrete houses are more durable and can last 200 per cent more than the others.

Here are a few maintenance tips that will ensure a longer life for your concrete house plan:
Avoid keeping wet items directly on concrete surface as they can darken the finish. Clean concrete items or surface with non abrasive household cleaner. Apply waxing every quarter of a year to add an extra layer of protection to the surface of the concrete.
