St. Peter's Advice |
Ann Landers, the famous newspaper columnist |
Suppose that Ann Landers died and went to heaven. St. Peter was delighted to meet this columnist and interviewed her and got sort of the overall intent of how she answered questions for thousands. Then he decided to test her, because he had many problems himself, even though he was in charge of the gate of heaven. So he asked her about one of his problems and the most divine and wonderful solutions came out of her mouth, for a minute he thought that this was good. Then he told her the God awful truth: by the way Ann, none of your students that followed your advice are up here in heaven. Only people who have practiced meditation are up here, so I guess that I’ll send you back to Earth and let you be the next Maharishi and teach people to meditate. Ann Landers was kind of stunned by this remark and she looked a little past St. Peter and there was a Green Angel in heaven that was Mariah Carey’s friend, she was there in heaven and Ann didn’t understand why she would be there. Ann Landers agreed to go back to Earth until she was the Maharishi that could teach people to meditate, but she still didn’t know why that Angel was green and nice to see. The Angel gave her a cookie which she ate and then she went back to Earth to trap meditation jokes and teach them to people. This new task was to take her one hundred thousand years. When she got back to Earth, she found a nice mother right away because she had eaten one of the cookies that the Green Angel gave her. |
Who knows when this story will end, I made it up to tell you a secret, advice doesn’t make you meditate. Just meditate is the right way. Meditate on the Yellow Yantra on this page and it will give some type of vision of the future. There may be basically two hundred meditation methods and we have just discussed some of them, but of course there is not a book that lists all two hundred of them. Well these methods are still in books here and there, and some Guru might say, no there are really one thousand good techniques of which one hundred might be even too many. The older a Yogi becomes, the more they can appreciate other meditation techniques. For example, ski down the slope and then try to remember what it felt like just before you pushed off for that long run all the way from the top of Telluride to the bottom. I did this, it was pretty interesting. I stopped at the top to see the view, no other than one of the most remarkable in the country, then when I got to the bottom, I could still remember the top. It still has not made me unhappy that I did this skiing, so I think skiing might be good. For those of you who have skied, isn’t that a meditation to remember the view at the top when you get to the bottom and the party is over? If there are a thousand meditations, then that might be one of them for me.
