I have downloaded a movie and there is no picture or sound when I try to play it back in Windows Media Player

The reason there is no sound/picture on playback is because the necessary codec is not present , in order to fix this problem  you can download and install

1) VLC MEDIA LAYER

          OR

2) Klite codec pack full

I have downloaded a movie/software and I'm unable to play/open it and all there is, are files that say r00,r001,r002 and so forth




Answer

The file has been zipped with Winrar (to compress the filesize to make for easier uploading/downloading), in order to open the archive one needs to install Winrar and right click on the file that says r00 and the rest of the archives will be extracted automatically, if you are left with an .iso file (which is an image file) you need to burn the .iso file to disk, a freeware application called will be able to do this if you don't have Nero or any other burning software application installed on your computer
