"Hyde (Pronounced in Japanese: Hai-do, or in English as "Hide", b. January 29, 1969, in Wakayama, Japan) is the lead singer for the Japanese rock band L'Arc~en~Ciel. Since Hyde keeps his personal information secret, much about him is either unknown or unofficial (including his real name, which is rumored to be Hideto Takarai, and his birthdate). He joined L'Arc~en~Ciel in 1992 after leaving another band called Jerusalem's Rod where he was the guitarist. In addition to being the lead singer and main lyricist of L'Arc~en~Ciel, Hyde has solo projects, as well as his own record label under Sony Japan called Haunted Records.
In 2000, Hyde married Megumi Oishi; they have one child together.

o It is said that his real name is Hideto Takarai, but the name Doi Hachiro was given by tetsu because the name Hyde (pronounced Ha-i-do in Japanese), when reversed, becomes Do-i-ha.

* Like full-blooded Japanese R&B singer Ken Hirai, Hyde is often mistaken to be a Mixed-Japanese (or a Eurasian in his case). Hyde himself has stated that he is in fact pure Japanese.

* One of his trademark accessories is a barbed wire necklace. He often wore it during performances and photoshoots, though in recent years he seems to have abandoned it. * On an interview with Pop Japan TV, Hyde stated that his favourite foods are hamburgers and his least favourite food is curry.
* When asked in an interview with Pop Japan TV if he cooks, he stated that he cooks curry once a year.
* In addition to vocals, Hyde has also sung background vocals, played the guitar, drums, harmonica, and saxophone during concerts.
* His favorite American bands are Slayer, Metallica, Korn, and Linkin Park.
* The first song he ever played on the guitar was a Motley Crue song.
* Hyde is color-blind to a certain extent.
* Hyde has angel wing tattoos on his back/shoulders
